COVID-19 QLD GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCEMENT AFFECTING OUR GYM - 29th March 2021

To our loyal Helfi Family. As you know we have always taken COVID-19 extremely seriously.

We have put strict measures in place well and truly over and above our industry standards and well and truly above the COVID-19 SAFE PLAN expectations of our QLD Government.

We have protected all our members with our regular TGA approved COVID-19 SAFE SHIELD on all touch points, over and above our regular daily cleaning protocols.

On the 10th February, we were audited by QLD Health as part of their routine checks for gyms in the local Brisbane area, and we passed all checks ABOVE AND BEYOND. Despite our efforts and protocols in making our gym safer than most public and commercial places, the government has made a decision to box us into a general category of non-essential services, once again, and compared us with other gyms and fitness centres than have not taken COVID-19 as seriously as we have..

We are disappointed with this decision, given the efforts we go to, to do our part to protect the community, over and above many.

As such, we will reopen 5pm on Thursday 1st April 2021, as per government directive.
We hope you enjoy your COVID-19 rest of the week off, and hope Queenslanders do the right thing, so we can go about our livelihoods without further unfair and unsupported QLD Government choices and decisions.

We pray and hope, nobody else gets badly ill or sick from this sad situation, that should have been prevented, once again.

And we hope our fellow 'non-essential' workers and businesses, who have been forced to close, through no fault of their own, can get through this, and are as lucky as we are in continually being supported by our local Helfi Family and community.

To our Loyal Helfi Family, from 6pm 11 January 2021, restrictions during the 3-day lockdown will ease. and our Gym Facility will be fully operational, with just 1 change to our existing protocols, as directed by the Queensland Government and Queensland Health. 

As a result of our already strict COVID-19 SAFE practices and protocols, the only change for our members is -  YOU CAN ONLY ENTER OUR PREMESIS WEARING A MASK. 

Queensland Health have made it very clear we must all carry a face mask with us at all times when we leave home, unless we have a lawful reason not to.  As such, no Helfi Gym Member is permitted to enter our gym premises, without wearing a mask, even if they forget to bring it with them - as this is a breach of QLD Health Directives.   We ask for your full co-operation and support with this, irrespective or whether you agree or disagree with this directive, as we are merely doing our part to stay compliant. 

Please note, if you have a lawful reason not to wear a mask, we would be happy to support you with this, as long as you can support us by providing evidence of an approved authorised QLD Health exemption.  You will not be able to enter, until we can provide you with a formal acceptance, because we will need to put extra steps in place to have you work out in safe way for you and our Helfi Members and Staff, and this may take a little bit of time to prepare and implement.   As such, we kindly ask that you please formally notify us, prior to attending, so we can begin this formal assessment and process to support you on this.  YOU CANNOT Just enter our premises without wearing a mask and expect to exercise without receiving our formal approval and agreeing to comply with extra steps we will put in place to support you.  We ask for your understanding and patience on this, as we are adapting to the new directives and want to do everything possible to ensure everyone is kept safe.

​We are proud that our Helfi Members, can access our gym facility, with everything else being back to normal for you, as we have always met the guidelines the Government and QLD Health has suggested. 

Our Helfi Gym Members can continue to feel safe and comfortable when working out at Helfi Addiction 24/7 Fitness because we will still continue to operate with the following strict COVID SAFE Protocols:
  • We have never exceeded the 1 per 4sqm rule as a gym, even during pre-COVID days
  • We are proud to not operate as an over-crowded gym, and don't intend to do so
  • All our equipment is still placed with a minimum of 1.5m apart, so you can feel safe to exercise without concern or encroaching on social distancing
  • Our daily cleaning practices are exceptional
  • All members consent to comply with our COVID-19 SAFE House Rules, before they are granted access to utilise our gym facility
  • We have in place a REPORTING A COVID19 BREACH  system, for reporting non compliance, and this is still available.
  • We protect ALL our equipment, surfaces and touch points with Australia's GA approved- ARTG Registered, Hospital Grade Disinfectant COVID-19 SAFE Shield, that will kill the virus in 30 seconds and has a lasting protection barrier for 30 days.
We are happy, that your training can re-commence back to normal again - but with a mask until 22nd January 2021.

So there is no confusion, we kindly ask that you please read below the new QLD Health directives, to put things into perspective  and to provide our Helfi Family the reassurance we have exceeding these requirements.

Please note the new QLD Government Health Directives commencing 6.01pm Monday 11th January 2021:

​Eased restrictions for Greater Brisbane will be in place from 6.01pm 11 January to 1am 22 January.
The Greater Brisbane region includes:
  • City of Brisbane
  • City of Ipswich
  • Logan City
  • Moreton Bay Region
  • Redland City
People are permitted to be outside their homes for any purpose, subject to the restrictions below:

Face masks
You must carry a face mask with you at all times when you leave home, unless you have a lawful reason not to. You must wear a mask in indoor spaces, except in your home. For example:
  • shopping centres, supermarkets, retail outlets and indoor markets
  • hospitals and aged care facilities
  • churches and places of worship
  • libraries
  • indoor recreational facilities and gyms
  • indoor workplaces (where you can’t socially distance)
  • public transport, taxis and rideshare
  • airports and travelling on planes.
Qld Health recommend you wear a mask when outdoors if you are unable to stay more than 1.5m distance from other people, such as busy walkways and thoroughfares.
Children under 12 years are and people affected by a medical condition or disability are exempt.

Home confinement and movement
You can leave your home for any purpose. You can travel anywhere in Australia. Please note other states and territories may have restrictions in place that prevent you from travelling to them.

Despite our efforts and protocols in making our gym safer than most public and commercial places, the government has made a decision to box us into a general category of non-essential services, once again.

We are disappointed with this decision, given the efforts we go to, to do our part to protect the community, over and above many.

We are astonished as to how such a hard line on closing services that are well prepared with COVID-19 SAFE PRACTICES has been mandated, yet there was not a hard enough line to put strict measures in place to prevent this virus from entering our community from quarantine and outside of Queensland.

This virus has been devastating to the community in more ways than one, and the only way it can enter is from an outside /overseas source.

Sadly, there has been plenty of time to prepare iron clad protocols to stop it from entering our community, just as they had plenty of time to issue many COVID-19 SAFE INDUSTRY PLANS to support the community.

There has been measures in place to allow professional sports, such as AFL, NRL, RUGBY, CRICKET, etc to continue, by forcing them into COVID-19 SAFE Hubs for months on end and seasons. And because of this they have been fortunate enough to get through their seasons successfully, and even with mass audiences too.

We are grateful that this COVID-19 SAFE HUB has worked successfully for these sports, and it showed that people are willing to sacrifice some freedom in order to keep their livelihood alive by living in isolated HUBS.

We are astounded, however, as to why it has not been made MANDATORY to COVID-19 SAFE HUB all workers who make contact with Higher Risk Quarantined people that already have been infected with the virus, especially after what happened in Melbourne.

These quarantined people are way more likely to pass the virus onto workers, who in turn are being allowed to access the community after shift end. How has this been allowed?

There are many people looking for work, and there would not be any shortage of people putting their hands up to work in a HUB if they were well compensated and supported, as a result of being HUBBED, shielded and isolated from the greater community, while they do such higher risk work.

To expect, innocent hard working people in our community doing the right thing, over and above what is expected, to take another hit, is concerning and not fair, when this should have been prevented with stricter and better measures in place.

Despite our concerns with how we have been let down by not being strict and uncompromising enough to stop this virus from entering our community directly from quarantine, we will respect their decision to have us close our gym facility for the requested 3 days.
We have always known things can change quickly and we have prepared ourselves to adapt accordingly.

On this occasion, we will remain flexible in continuing to support the request to shut all gyms down, even though this decision has been made without them assessing individual standards, without consideration of our strict protocols, and despite them being fully responsible for not being strict enough with preventing COVID-19 getting into our QLD community from sources outside of QLD.

As such, we will remain open today until 6pm and will re-open 6pm on Monday 11th January 2021, as per government directive.

We hope you enjoy your COVID-19 long weekend, and hope Queenslanders do the right thing, so we can go about our livelihoods without further unfair and unsupported choices and decisions.

We pray and hope, no body gets badly ill or sick from this sad situation, that should have been prevented.

And we hope our fellow 'non-essential' workers and businesses, who have been forced to close, through no fault of their own, can get through this, and are as lucky as we are in continually being supported by our local Helfi Family and community.

"​I’ve always enjoyed an active lifestyle, so I was devastated when I injured my back a couple of years ago and was unable to participate in the things I enjoy.

When I was ready to walk into a gym again, I approached Helfi Addiction to discuss membership options. The staff immediately identified my situation and together we created a plan which focussed on building the foundation needed for a successful recovery.

So when you do join our gym in Woolloongabba, what are some of the things you can do to transition back into gym life in a positive way? ​Priority Number One – Restart the gym mindset
Firstly, you should not be looking at a resumption of the old gym life you had in the past. Most of us have had quite enough of previous Brisbane gyms already. What we suggest that you seek is a whole fresh start. Chances are, your health priorities and lives have been re-structured and social expectations and social connections at gyms have changed.  The re-orientation you need to do now is to form new expectations and connections, and to renew your attitude towards learning more about success in your new helfi gym environment.

Limbering up for gym success will involve resetting mindset, rekindling new Helfi member and Helfi Team friendships, warming up your curiosity and stretching your imaginations. You most likely will need that underlying support of wonderful friendly people around you before you feel you can safely regain your confidence and feeling of freedom space to do it at your pace.
Priority Number Two – Plan for success
Given that the shape of our lives change more than any of us expect them to, you will need to plan for success. A way to do this is to assess your strengths instead of your challenges. This forward thinking approach can be used to establish a personalised plan for the next six months.  We find that for those that focus on the challenges, there is a big risk of feeling that ones health or fitness has got away from them to the extent that they feel they cannot succeed. Clearly this is not true. Firstly, everyone has experienced some sort of major setbacks in their health and fitness journey at some point.. Secondly, there is plenty of time to catch up and succeed, if you don't rush it. It has been proven time and time again at our gym in Woolloongabba, that clear systems and plans will outdo slogging yourself into a frenzy or giving up.
Priority Number Three – Can’t wait to see you
One of the unique things that separates Helfi Addiction 247 Fitness Centre from other Brisbane Gyms, is that we only attract family friendly people who genuinely make our members and us feel comfortable in our very own gym environment,  I mean, over the last 10 years, we built this gym around people we genuinely look forward to meeting, connecting and enjoying each others company.  We couldn't think of anything worse than to turn up to our place of profession every day, not liking the people (staff and members) around us.  That is why we take to the time to qualify and screen all our members and staff, to ensure our core values are aligned.

Priority Number Four – Safe and certain
We are all in the care of one another - ie both Helfi members and team. There is a clear understanding that we intend to keep everyone safe and well and have planned as much as we can, for this outcome.  This means you can be reassured that we have critical plans that are COVID-19 Safe and are above industry standards, But it doesn't just stop there, our approach to health and fitness, is sensible and safe - we don't believe in prescribing crazy over the top exercises and workout routines.  The bottom line to our safety is clear - ambiguity is our enemy and will increase risk, whereas clarity is our friend and will increase long-term safe enjoyment.
Priority Number Five – The power of the Rest and Recovery cycle
Rest and Recovery cycles are a common area of neglect, even in recent times. Fitness and gym programs can always change as goals are reset, But what about recovery cycles.  No matter what your vision and health goal is, it is imperative that you establish a more usual recovery cycle, into your plan.

If you have ever experienced jet lag symptoms after working long hours without time off across an extended period of time, you may have noticed that it will take at least a couple of days of solid rest and sleep to feel fresh again. Exercise is no different.  Depending on how much workload stress your body has been exposed to, try to give your body the time to re-adjust with a well planed recovery cycle before returning to gym again..

What will help your recovery cycle to achieve the best results for you body, is the careful planning of  'rest days'.  This means prevention of over fatigue is the key here - you don't need to smash yourself until you are always crawling out of bed, It doesn't have to be this way! You want to get up in the mornings feeling revitalised  and ready to add value for the day.

Moreover, if you are bold enough to program a lighter recovery week in your program every 6 to 8 weeks, then you are truly understanding the rest and recovery cycle at the next level.  Getting your rest and recovery cycle back into sync with your gym lifestyle program improves so many other aspects of life such as work, learning and mental health.  
Priority Number Six – Less really is more
It is understandable that you may feel in a rush to make up for the time and opportunities missed prior to retuning to the gym. Falling into the trap of cramming in as much as possible to make up for your lost time is a compelling idea that many are guilty of. Our experience shows that anyone who takes this approach will almost certainly set themselves up for failure and not achieve their gym goals.  Rushing too much or putting too much in place too early is a recipe for exhaustion, disenchantment and demotivation. While you are back at the gym, easy does it. Taking your time now to slowly rebuild a sense of success will pay off big dividends. Take it slow & steady and make it fun! 
Priority Number Seven – Review
About six to eight weeks after the resumption of your new Helfi gym lifestyle, we would highly recommend to schedule a time to review your progress. We recommend this be an individual check-in of the pluses and the minuses of your experiences, what you feel has worked well, as well as what hasn’t, and a re-assessment of what is going to help support and progress you in the future.  The learnings and results of this review will enable you to shift to the next phase of your gym experience and health transformation.

Looking For A Gym in Brisbane That Helps You Avoid Crowds While Working Out

So you’ve been searching around for a new Gym in Brisbane, that is not overcrowded, just so you can workout in your own space without bumping into other sweaty people beside you.  Chances are, you wont be having much luck with the big chain overcrowded gyms.  There still is one local independent Gym in Brisbane that is the exception...

At Helfi Addiction 247 Fitness Gym in Brisbane (Woolloongabba), we ensure our members avoid the crowds while working out.  We have been established for over 10 years, and have a really solid foundation of loyal members that fit in comfortably in our huge 500+ square metre floor space.  Quite simply, we made a management decision from day one that we will never increase our member base just for the sake of cramming in as many bodies as we can - we are about people and community where everyone becomes a friend, not a number.

Even before COVID-19 came around, we were well known for attracting family friendly people into our gym in Brisbane without the large crowd.  Given the size of our floor space, we are fortunate enough to host many workout stations and a large variety of equipment - all 1.5m apart.  What we have done successfully over the last 10 years is that we simply don't allow more people than workout spaces into our gym in Brisbane at anyone time.

Sadly, the feedback we get from our members who have been to other nearby gyms in Brisbane previously, is that these other gyms may look the part from outside, but they simply do not have a great vibe when you walk in. Its not just the intimidating crammed up equipment or the shady locker rooms that make them feel  uncomfortable; its also the actual way their gym management allow too many people in at one time that makes their workout space uncomfortable, overcrowded and not appealing.  When the issue of wanting to avoid the crowds comes up as a concern, there’s one thing these gym membership salespeople will never admit to - their gym is a practical mosh pit most hours of the day; because all they want to do is sell sell sell more memberships and push their membership base as high as possible.

The reality for many of these chain style gyms in Brisbane, is that instead of breezing from one piece of equipment to the next, you’ll silently line up behind each piece of equipment and jump on it before others can stake their claim. Sadly, this is the state of many chain franchise gyms in Brisbane around your local area.  Rather than them admitting that you do have an alternative option such as a local independent gym like Helfi without the crowd, they push the focus on trying to make you get used to being forced to endure the crowds, by giving you a few work around suggestions.  Here are the common work around tricks our members have shared with us, based on what their previous gym told them as a way to stop them from cancelling their membership with them due to their concerns:
  • Trick 1 - If you can, go during off-peak hours - which obviously means you’ll have to commit to a relatively early or late workout regime. So if getting to the gym as early as 5am or after 8pm suits you, then you might be lucky to only compete with other members doing the same as you are in avoiding the crowds - only to make it crowded again.
  • Trick 2 - If you can, train over the weekend - which obviously means you will be faced with the same challenges as in off-peak hours above
  • Trick 3 - If you are close enough, they will encourage you to go during your lunch hour - which obviously means you have to be willing to give up most of your lunch break just to fit in a shortened super quick workout instead. The same challenges as above still applies here; you might think the gym may be empty during lunchtime rush, only to find its just as crowded, because others have been told come during lunch hour just like they did to you
  • Trick 4 - Before you make your way to the gym, call up the gym and ask about the crowds before coming in - which obviously means you are relying on the staff being present and the crowds not arriving between the time you called the gym and travel time to get to it.  Of course, there are several other things to consider too, given that you may only have up to an hour to cram your workout in - for example, condensing your routine, mapping out the distance from your place to the gym, and any time spent changing into gym gear then showering and changing back into work wear.  If the planets all align well for you, by all means.  Good Luck! 
  • Trick 5 - If you want to guarantee you’ll get a workout in, they encourage you to sign up for a group class - which again, this is essentially forcing you to opt to a group of people that may not align with you.  If small talk isn’t your thing, you might resent this option being forced to endure a little group socialisation of differing "full-on" personalities just to get access to a workout space.  It hardly seems right.  The other challenge you will face is that group classes will not give you access to all the pieces of equipment and cardio machines you desire.  So before you get cornered, make sure you are not signing up to something that is simply not suitable for you. 
  • Trick 6 - How about not going at the start of the hour to avoid the rushes in and out by members and personal trainers? We find this one amusing, because if the chain gyms in Brisbane are suggesting for you to resort to this strategy to avoid the crowd, then you really need to ask yourself if this this the best place for you.
As you can see, we find it quite unsettling that our members had to be exposed to these type of unrealistic temptations as means for the chain gyms in Brisbane to trick them into sticking with them just to avoid a crowd for a workout.  No matter what the suggestion is, crowded gyms will always be crowded, and if you want to avoid them because you deserve some alone time, then look past their trickery and find a gym such as Helfi that is the exception, instead of limiting your options.

At Helfi, before any of our members join, we always encourage them to check out our client reviews.  We have posted them here for your convenience.  You will notice that we never have any mention of crowds and members complaining of having to share equipment with long wait times.  Now that's a pretty good sign for an independent local gym in Brisbane that has been around for over 10 years.
Lastly when you visit our gym for a tour, we are more that happy for you to make the visit during peak hours, or at a time that you would potentially workout, so you can get a better sense of vibe.  We like to be transparent and that's because we have nothing to hide - we are about Real People with Rea, Stories.

P.S. Here's one last tip on how to avoid an overcrowded gym in Brisbane - always try to avoid gyms which hold constant promotions and plenty of free passes to entice new members.  This typically means they have limited regard to existing members by liberally allowing non committed members unrestricted access so their gym won’t ever really empty out while there’s an influx of new people every day.  This is not the Helfi Way!

HELFI ADDCTION 24/7 ROLL-OUT FOR STAGE 1 OF QLD GOVERNMENT COVID-19 ROADMAP TO EASING RESTRICTIONS 

With the release of the QLD Governement's COVID-19 Road Map for Easing Of Restrictions, we have been preparing tirelessly for what may be a tough journey back out of hibernation to do what we love best - to support our amazing loyal members and our local community. 

SO, WHAT DOES THIS STAGE 1 MEAN FOR
​HELFI ADDICTION 24/7 FITNESS CENTRE and OUR HELFI MEMBERS?

We Are Open For Outdoor Fitness With Up To 10 Clients At Any One Time!

While the Queensland Government has continued to hibernate our INDOOR Helfi Addiction 24/7 Fitness Centre until the 12th June 2020, we are now permitted to operate outdoors with gatherings of up to 10 people at one time (with our staff not included in the total number of people allowed).

Helfi Members - No Further Addition To Your Existing Gym Membership

$10 per 30 minutes
​We have kept the cost of sessions to only $10 per 30 minutes.  This will help cover our basic expenses such as associated related additional COVID-19 required expenses and to have our Fitness Professionals support and supervise each session block.

​PLEASE NOTE: Helfi Gym Memberships will now be reactivated for commencement to allow our members to utilise our outdoor gym, so if you require assistance with your Gym Membership with regards to any adjustments or a request for your gym membership to remain On Hold until we will be able to operate indoors as scheduled by the QLD Government for Friday 12th June 2020, please contact us.


PS. Sessions are strictly in 30 minute blocks,  For non members, you can purchase 2 x 30 minute blocks if you would like to exercise for 1 hour, as long as the blocks our available. You must commence your session on time and ensure that your session is finished on time, so as to respect the time of other clients and staff​ that will require to have access to the station for next booking

We have carefully designed the outdoor area to exceed health recommendations to ensure that we can safely accommodate up to 10 awesome clients at any one time, supervised and supported with our team of fitness professionals, For this reason we encourage you to pre-book your sessions with our team, to ensure you do not miss out or having to wait until a station is made available.  Of course you can just turn up and take your chance, but this will be on a first in first served basis

Safety Comes First

We have always taken safety very seriously, and with COVID-19 still a major risk no matter where you are in Australia, we will not compromise on safe practices.  Our livelihoods have been awfully impacted due to having to be forced into hibernation, and so we are extra committed in doing our part to ensure a further COVID-19 outbreaks does not happen. ​

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WE HAVE TAKEN:
The following Outdoor Setup precautions have been implemented for your safety:
  1. We have considered the size of the space to safely accommodate 10 people (plus our Fitness Professionals) - we have a very large outdoor space that has the capacity to accommodate in excess of 100 people to move around safely based on the general rule where people should be able to keep 1.5 metres apart with a 1 person per 4 square metres.
  2. We have setup outdoor workout stations in the safest way possible - 10 clearly marketed spaced out workout stations, complimented with clearly marketed out walking paths and well measured social distanced No Go zones.  ​
  3. We have hand hygiene and cleaning products as well as suitable rubbish bins readily available
  4. We have our fully Qualified Fitness Professionals onsite to supervise and support you with your session at all times
  5. We have our fully Qualified Fitness Professionals onsite at all times to ensure all equipment is cleaned and sanitzed before and after use to be ready for commencement of your session 
  6. We have our fully Qualified Fitness Professionals onsite at all times to ensure everyone entering our site is screened for COVID-19, Flu like symptoms or is a  high risk before partaking in outdoor training
  7. We have our fully Qualified Fitness Professionals onsite at all times to be vigilant in ensuring EVERYONE adheres to safe COVID-19 social distancing protocals and safe health practices
  8. We have our fully Qualified Fitness Professionals onsite at all times to remind clients at the commencement of session of the required changes in activities and interactions between staff and other participants throughout this period
  9. We have our fully Qualified Fitness Professionals onsite at all times to support clients and celebrate success verbally and/or with positive gestures ensuring social distancing rather than high 5's or handshakes.​
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS YOU MUST TAKE:
Please take note of the following requirements to participate in our Outdoor Helfi Fitness Sessions:
  1. You cannot enter our outdoor fitness hub if you have recently returned from overseas travel in the last 14 days!   If yes, you are required under law to Self-Isolate for 14 days from date of arrival into Australia
  2. You cannot enter our outdoor fitness hub if you have been in contact with a person confirmed sick with COVID-19! If yes you are required by law to Self-Isolate for 14 days from date of arrival into Australia
  3. You cannot enter our outdoor fitness hub if you have any of the following symptoms: Fever, cough, runny nose, shortness of breath & other flu or respiratory like symptoms.   If yes, please call your GP immediately to arrange appointment to discuss symptoms and be referred for testing of Corona Virus.  You are  required by law to Self-Isolate for at least 14 days pending examination, unless otherwise indicated by your GP.
  4. If you planning on travelling interstate or overseas in the near future, please let us know prior to leaving to arrange a return to timeline that meets COVID-19 restrictions and requirements.
  5. YOU MUST BRING - your own drink bottle (it is not to be shared) .  We are not permitted to supply you with access to drinking facilities or drinking options.
  6. YOU MUST BRING - your own towel.  NO TOWEL NO TRAINING.  Alternatively if you do not bring a towel, you can purchase one from Helfi for $10
  7. YOU MUST NOT ENTER WITHOUT - your sports shoes.
  8. YOU MUST RESPECT - all COVID-19 social distance rules and safe practices at all times
  9. YOU MUST - apply Hand Sanitiser immediately upon arrival before every session
  10. YOU MUST - spray and wipe every equipment and rubber matting after use
  11. You can only support other clients and celebrate success verbally and/or with positive gestures ensuring social distancing rather than high 5's or handshakes.​
  12. ​If you are coming with a member of your household, you must still respect all COVID-19 social distance rules and safe practices at all times while on site
  13. YOU MUST NOT - enter our indoor facilities at any time.  The indoor premises is not available for entry for clients during  COVID-19 Stage 1 Ease of Restrictions
  14. YOU Will NOT -  be able to enter our indoor premises to for the purpose of access to toilets, showers or drinking stations, so please com prepared.

We appreciate your support and understanding with following these safe practices, that have been put upon us.  The safety of other Australian's health is at risks.  And on a personal note, we have been financially hurting due to forced COVID-19 hibernation with not being able to trade.  A second outbreak would be financially devastating for us, as well as many other small businesses and people unable to earn an income during these times.  We ask all our members, our community and the greater public, to please do your part in helping us all keep COVID-19 down, so we can all go back to our 'normal lives'.

Acknowledgement:

First of all, I would like to acknowledge our amazing supportive Helfi Gym community in Woolloongabba.  The amount of supportive messages we have received has been heart warming.  We appreciate your concerns for our team’s wellbeing during this once in a life-time unprecedented situation, that has given all of us a wake up call we will never forget.

Last Night's Government Announcement And How It Affects Us:

​As you may have heard on last night’s (29th March 2020) government announcement, the opportunity for outdoor fitness in a small group setting was removed, and only one on one outdoor PT is currently available.  As you can imagine, we have been absolutely inundated about many of our members and their family and friends wanting to do one on one outdoor PT.  Because we are fully committed to safely comply with current government guidelines, we need to do this in a way so everybody interested, gets the opportunity to access this fairly and safely.  If any of you are keen to enjoy a PT experience with one of our caring and amazing Fitness Professionals, let us know ASAP, and we can provide you more details..

Our Hearts Have Been Filled With So Much Gratitude:

​We have been overwhelmed with so many generous offers to keep memberships active, just to support us.  And our hearts have filled up with so much gratitude whenever we receive such beautiful gestures.  As a team, we made the united decision to suspend/hibernate every member’s debit’s after the announcement of last Monday 23rd March COVID-19 lockdown.  So please all be assured that absolutely no members will be billed until we will re-open our doors, once the government lifts the COVID-19 lockdown.

Supporting One Another With Creative Ideas:

As much as we are doing it really tough, we pride ourselves on supporting and finding ways to add value to our amazing community in any exchange.  As much as many of you have insisted on continuing to keep paying your membership, it is not in our heart to do so, without making this a win-win.  Many of you have been creative in offering ideas to keep your membership active, in an effort to support one another, and we are certainly open to that.  Please be patient with us while we are working tirelessly to find the best ways we can make this happen for you and many of our members. As soon as we can, we will certainly liaise with you directly.

SAFE OUTDOOR PREMIUM HELFI FITNESS IN WOOLLOONGABBA

WE ARE STILL ALLOWED TO RUN OUTDOOR FITNESS SESSIONS AT THE REAR OF OUR SPACIOUS OUTDOOR FACILITY IN WOOLLOONGABBA!

We are following all protocols to keep everyone absolutely safe.  Since we exceed guidelines for safe and responsible exercise in our outdoor setting, we are permitted to have you continue using your membership training in our spacious outdoor area at our existing location in Woolloongabba, thank goodness!  

Right now we are really financially bleeding with the recent government announcement regarding the mandatory temporary closure of our indoor facility.  Unfortunately, it is our understanding that the fitness industry is getting no financial government support to cover the Tens of Thousands of Dollars on monthly financial expenses such us our basic overhead costs relating to ongoing landlord rental, utilities, and other ongoing commercial agreements.  And so here we are working tirelessly to find ways to keep adding value to our amazing local member community, so that we can stay afloat, not just to cover our commercial costs, but also feed our young families.

Now is the time we can help each other.  Now is the time we must 
stick together and be as flexible as possible in these trying times.  We have been overwhelmed by the amount of amazing support messages we have received and the continued requests to keep finding a way to help you all stay fit and healthy.  We understand that it is absolutely vital that you can keep your immune systems strong while preventing mental health risks by being stuck on your own.  These are unprecedented times, and we are doing what we can to accommodate your need to keep active in a safe and responsible RISK-FREE way, and most importantly continue to exceed safety guidelines recommended by our government, and the World Health Organisation.   As we have found a way forward, this is how we can support each other to Stay Positive, physically and mentally healthy and as a close knit wonderful community:

We will exceed the following Fitness Australia Outdoor Training Guidelines As Per:
Addendum - March 22nd 2020
Fitness Australia Require Personal Trainers delivering outdoor training to follow recommendations of the Australian Health Protection Principle Committee, an adviser to the Australia Government, to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.

Outdoor training should follow these precautions:
- Consider the size of the space, the number of people in it, and how much room people have to move around safely - as a general rule, people should be able to keep 1.5 metres apart and 1 person per 4 square metres
- Make hand hygiene products and suitable rubbish bins readily available
- Conduct frequent cleaning and waste disposal.*

Reinforcement of vigilant practices with hygiene and cleaning should be followed.  Consider encouraging clients to:
- Bring their own drink bottles (not to be shared) and equipment ie. towel and sport shoes
- Remind clients at the commencement of session of the required changes in activities and interactions between staff and other participants throughout this period
- Support clients and celebrate success verbally and/or with positive gestures ensuring social distancing rather than high 5's or handshakes.
